The Boosters support for the band program, and yours, is generally concentrated in two areas: money and time…
LET’S TALK ABOUT MONEY
Operating a high school band, especially a competitive marching band or percussion ensemble, is costly. Among the many expenses are things like uniforms, music licensing, and compensation for the instrumental technicians who work closely with band members throughout the season.
Unfortunately, school arts programs across the nation receive little or no funding from the State or District level and we are no exception. We are fortunate that WCPSS supplies some funds, but the total level of support does not meet the program's demands. Because of this, most expenses fall upon families (participation fees) and the Band Booster Organization.
We strive to balance the challenge of keeping the costs manageable while still maintaining a level of excellence. Additional funding for our band programs comes from donations, various fundraising activities and sponsorships. The Boosters help close the large financial gap.
There are many ways to help with fundraising, and many do not require additional money from your pocket! You can help raise much needed funds just by doing your usual everyday things, like – when you shop, eat and mingle!
